April 20, 2014

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –

The sixth-ranked South Carolina women’s golf team shot a 2-over 290 on Sunday at Greystone Golf and Country Club to finish in second place at the SEC Championship. The Gamecocks concluded the tournament with a three-round score of 890 (+26).

“The team really battled today,” said head coach Kalen Harris. “To finish two over as a team is a phenomenal score and I’m really proud of the way they battled back. Our round today was Gamecock golf. To have the deficit we started the day with and come back and finish second was really remarkable and I’m very proud of them. This will be good momentum going into NCAA Regionals.”

Junior Justine Dreher carded the low round of the day for the Garnet and Black with a 1-under 71. Dreher concluded the tournament with a total score of 218 (+2) and earned her first top-five finish of the year as she claimed fourth place.
