COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian was recognized by the South Carolina House of Representatives at the State House on Thursday. The Gamecocks were presented with a resolution honoring the team for winning the 2014 SEC Equestrian Championship and for becoming the first Gamecock program to win back-to-back SEC Championships.

The resolution, introduced by Rep. Chip Limehouse (Charleston), passed the House on April 29.

South Carolina athletics director Ray Tanner, head coach Boo Major, associate head coach Ruth Sorrel, assistant coach Carol Gwin, western team captain Alison Ceresani, Morgan Hale, Sam Chiodo, and Melanie Cormier represented the team at the State House on Thursday.

The Gamecocks won the 2014 SEC Equestrian Championship on March 29, defeating Georgia in a tiebreaker at One Wood Farm. Carolina finished the season as the national runner-up, and posted a program best 15-3 record during the 2013-2014 campaign. The Gamecocks were ranked No. 1 for a school record 20 straight weeks during the season.
