ATHENS, Ga. – South Carolina junior Andrew Adams got his first look at the draw for the NCAA Singles Championships today, and the Gamecocks’ top performer will meet Baylor’s Julian Lenz at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the University of Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis complex. It is Adams’ first appearance at the event.

Adams earned All-SEC Second Team honors behind a 13-9 dual-match record that featured a 6-4 mark in the top spot of the Gamecocks’ lineup. It was his second season on the team after capturing SEC All-Freshman Team recognition in his collegiate debut. This season Adams’ 13 wins include six over nationally ranked opponents, highlighted by a dominant performance against then-No. 16 Nik Scholtz, which would be the only SEC loss of the season for the league’s eventual Player of the Year.

Ranked No. 3 in the nation, Lenz brings a 35-7 overall record into Wednesday’s match. He went 15-3 at the top of the Bears’ singles lineup, helping Baylor to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals. Last season’s Big 12 Freshman of the Year delivered on his sophomore campaign, pulling in All-Big 12 honors in singles behind a 4-1 league record and a 24-4 dual-match mark. Lenz is 16-7 against nationally ranked opponents this season.

The winner of Wednesday’s match will face one of two opponents Adams is familiar with in Daniil Proskura of Alabama and Clemson’s Hunter Harrington, who also play at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

More information on the bracket, results, live scoring and live video can be found at Georgia’s Championship Central.
