HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The first round of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship has been suspended due to severe weather at Prairie Dunes Country Club on Friday.

South Carolina was able to play anywhere from five to seven holes before the third weather delay of the day made it impossible for the teams to go back out on the course. The Gamecocks were 1-under on the day and in fourth place before play was halted. All 15 teams from the morning wave made it on to the course, while none of the 15 teams in the afternoon wave were able to tee off.

Four of the five Gamecocks were at even par or better, with sophomore Will Starke leading the way at 1-under through five holes. Junior Will Murphy was even par through seven holes, while freshman Ben Dietrich and junior Caleb Sturgeon were both at even par through six and five holes, respectively. Sophomore Matt NeSmith was at 1-over through six holes.

Play will resume on Saturday at 7 a.m. CDT. Live scoring will be available at golfstatresults.com.
