COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina men’s golf team climbed 10 spots to No. 14 in the Golfstat Relative Rankings released on Wednesday.
The Gamecocks made the leap in the rankings after turning in a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championship on Monday at Prairie Dunes Country Club. The finish was the second best national championship showing in program history. South Carolina came up one stroke shy of finishing in a tie for eighth, which would have put the Gamecocks in a three-team playoff for the final spot in match play.
South Carolina had one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2013-14, winning three tournaments and finishing in the top three in a school-record seven-straight events during the regular season. The Gamecocks began their postseason run with a fifth-place finish at the SEC Championship and then earned their second-straight NCAA Championship berth with a fifth-place showing at the NCAA Eugene Regional.
