KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the second annual 2013-14 Team Academic Excellence Awards, created by the NABC Committee on Academics. South Carolina was one of 125 colleges and universities recognized for outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2013-14 season.

The Gamecocks recorded a GPA of 3.193, which is the highest cumulative GPA on record for the team. South Carolina was one of three teams in the Southeastern Conference to earn the award along with Florida and Kentucky.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I and II, must count the grade point averages of all men’s student-athletes who competed during the 2013-14 season.
