COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin announced today that the Gamecocks will host Benedict College on Oct. 26 for an exhibition contest at Colonial Life Arena. The meeting will be the first ever on the hardwood between the two schools. Game time is set for 4 p.m. ET, with free admission for all fans.

“I’m extremely excited to announce our game versus Benedict College,” Martin said. “[Benedict head coach] Fred Watson and I are both extremely proud about the fact that this is a game that is long overdue because of the impact it will make in our community due to the great impact that both universities have for members of the City of Columbia and its surrounding areas.”

The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a free T-shirt, and there will also be a Halloween themed pre-party on the concourse prior to tipoff. The My Carolina Alumni Association and the Gamecock Club will also hold an event prior to tipoff in the McGuire Club, and basketball student-athletes will sign autographs in the McGuire Club following the contest.

The Gamecock Ticket Sales Team will also be on hand from 12:30-2:30 p.m., for an exclusive opportunity for fans to select and purchase new men’s basketball season tickets. Available locations will be tagged so fans can try out their seats before purchasing. Appointments with the Sales Team are highly recommended (but not required).
