Senior Justine Dreher from the South Carolina women’s golf team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Dreher captured her first collegiate win at last week’s ANNIKA Intercollegiate, firing a 9-under 207 to lead the Gamecocks to the team championship in their first tournament of the fall. In it’s inaugural year, the ANNIKA featured a handpicked field boasting 11 of the top 13 teams in the country. Dreher bested a stacked field by carding a pair of 68s (-4) on the first two days of the tournament followed by a 1-under 71 on the final day. Dreher’s 207 ties Kristy McPherson’s 54-hole total at the 2001 SEC Championship as the lowest score in program history. Dreher produced a boogey-free front nine in all three rounds and recorded just three bogeys at the event while posting 12 birdies. She also led the field in par-5 scoring, taking advantage of the holes by shooting an 8-under over the course of thetournament.

The seven-stroke team win propelled the Gamecocks to the program’s first No. 1 ranking in Golfweek/Sargarin.

South Carolina returns to action this weekend, traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the Tar Heel Invitational. The event at the UNC Finley Golf Course is set for Fri., Oct. 10-Sun., Oct. 12.
