Fresh off her return trip from Istanbul, Turkey, after helping the United States win gold at the FIBA World Championships, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley opened the Gamecocks’ 2014-15 season with the team’s first full practice of the season on Tuesday.
In her seventh season at the helm, Staley led her defending SEC champions through the three-hour workout with the five returning starters helping the nation’s No. 2 signing class acclimate to its first long practice of the season as well as the nuances of the new plays added to the Gamecocks’ repertoire.
South Carolina will host Coker in an exhibition game on Sun., Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena. Admission for the exhibition is free. The regular season begins with three home games, starting with a visit from Southern California on Sat., Nov. 15.
