COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina men’s golf team jumped three spots to No. 7 in the latest Golfstat Relative Rankings, Golfstat announced Wednesday.
The ranking is Carolina’s highest in the Golfstat rankings since being ranked No. 7 during the 2010 spring season.
The Gamecocks had a stellar fall season, recording three top-five finishes in four events, including two tournament wins. Carolina has finished fifth or better in 12 of their last 15 tournaments. The two tournament victories this fall gave head coach Bill McDonald 11 for his career, making him the winningest coach by tournament victories in school history.
Carolina is also ranked in two other polls, ranking No. 15 in the most recent Golf Coaches Association of America Coaches Poll and No. 18 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings.
The Gamecocks will open their spring schedule at the Bayou City Collegiate Championships on Feb. 20-22 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
