BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Carolina senior goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after the No. 20 Gamecocks shutout Mississippi State to close out the regular season on Thursday night, the conference office announced today.

On her Senior Night, D’Angelo recorded her ninth shutout of the season and the 28th of her career. The total is second in program history, just three behind the record holder. D’Angelo has allowed just 0.57 goals a game this season and has seen more than one goal scored on her just twice in 2014 (3-2 W vs. No. 5 Florida, 2-2 T at No. 6 Texas A&M). In all, just 11 goals have been scored on D’Angelo this year, a total that tops the SEC. No other league team has allowed less than 16 goals this season.

This marks D’Angelo’s third weekly SEC honor of the season and the fourth of her career.

The Gamecocks travel to Orange Beach, Ala., for the SEC Tournament this week. Fifth seeded South Carolina is set to begin play against the No. 4 seed Missouri at 8:30 p.m. ET on Wed., Nov. 5.
