COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior guard Tiffany Mitchell was named to the Associate Press’ Preseason All-America Team, the organization announced today. She becomes the first Gamecock to earn Preseason All-America honors from the AP.
“I feel honored to be named to this team, and to be the first Gamecock to accomplish this makes it that much better,” Mitchell said. “I’m glad I can represent South Carolina at such a high level and be part of a great team. Without the players and coaches that make up this team, an accomplishment like this would be hard to come by. So, I am just really thankful and humbled by this recognition.”
Mitchell continues to add individual recognition for her role in South Carolina’s recent success. She closed the 2013-14 season on the AP All-America Third Team, joining Shannon Johnson and Jocelyn Penn as the only Gamecocks named to one of the three teams by the organization. Selected as one of four team captains this season, Mitchell will look to expand her game and leadership beyond last season’s averages of 15.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Carolina’s regular-season opener is slated for Sat., Nov. 15, against Southern Cal. Tipoff at Colonial Life Arena will be at 7 p.m.
Season tickets are available for $50 each for a reserved seat or a Family Four-Pack of four general admission tickets for $100. Visit www.GameocksOnline.com/tickets or call 1-800-4SC-FANS to purchase season tickets.
