Spurs & Feathers: Former Gamecock Antonio Grant continues to beat the clock

Mention the name Antonio Grant, and one moment comes to mind.
That would be the day of February 1, 1998, when #13 South Carolina played #18 Cincinnati in a nationally-televised contest at Carolina Coliseum. The Gamecocks trailed by as many 23 points in the second half, only to roar back within one with four seconds remaining. On the game’s final play, USC guard BJ McKie took the inbounds pass near midcourt, but stumbled along the sideline. He staggered haphazardly toward the perimeter, trying to keep his dribble around a tripwire of Bearcat defenders. Just as he fell down, he tipped the ball to Grant, a redshirt freshman forward, at the top of the key. Grant caught it, pivoted, and lofted a perfect parabola of a three-pointer over Cincinnati guard Michael Horton as time expired.
