COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s Mahamoudou Kaba and Mikkel Knudsen garnered spots on the All-Southeast Region Third Team the National Soccer Coaches Association of America released today.

Kaba, who took second-team honors a year ago, ranked second on the team with four goals on the season. The senior defender helped the team to four shutouts as well. The Ypsilanti, Mich., product earned All-Conference USA honors twice, taking a second-team spot this year.

Knudsen captured his fifth 2014 postseason award after raking in four from C-USA, including the league’s Freshman of the Year and Golden Boot individual honors. The redshirt freshman from Allested-Vejli, Denmark, led South Carolina with eight goals, six coming in C-USA regular-season play. He also had three assists, second on the team.

A total of 47 Gamecocks own 73 NSCAA All-Region certificates in history, with at least one student-athlete claiming a spot since the 1983 season.

South Carolina advanced into its third C-USA Tournament Championship this fall and finished with a 10-10 record. Three starters graduate from head coach Mark Berson’s 37th Gamecock team.
