ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. — South Carolina junior Matt NeSmith and senior Will Murphy posted top-15 finishes on Sunday at the Jones Cup Invitational at Ocean Forest Golf Club.

NeSmith carded a final-round 74 (+2) to finish tied for fifth with a total of 220 (+4), while Murphy recorded a 71 (-1) to tie for 11th with a total of 222 (+6).

A native of North Augusta, S.C., NeSmith finished strong, shooting a 2-under 34 on the back nine to get into the clubhouse at 2-over. After being 1-over through five holes, Murphy played the final 13 holes bogey free with a pair of birdies.

Freshman Keenan Huskey finished 63rd with a total of 234 (+18) after shooting an 80 on Sunday, while junior Will Starke finished tied for 67th with a total of 236 (+20) after turning in a final-round 75.

The Jones Cup Invitational is one of the top amateur events in the world and featured a field with golfers from 13 countries. Austin Connelly of Irving, Texas defeated Kyle Jones in a playoff to win the tournament and receive a sponsor’s exemption to the PGA Tour’s McGladrey Classic. Connelly and Jones finished with a 54-hole total of 216 (E).
