ATLANTA, Ga. — The South Carolina sand volleyball team recorded the program’s first sweep on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-0 victory over New Orleans at the Georgia State Diggin’ Duals.

With the win, the Gamecocks move to 4-0 on the season and extend their winning streak to five duals dating back to last season. New Orleans falls to 0-2 on the year. Carolina won all five matches in two sets and won each set by seven or more points.

Carolina’s No. 5 pair of KoKo Atoa-Williams and Allie Monserez quickly secured the first point for the Gamecocks as the duo cruised past New Orleans’ Taylor Berry and Keke Irby by the scores of 21-5 and 21-5.

In the No. 4 match, Carolina’s Jade Hayes and Macie Tendrich took down the Privateers’ Sophie Gracey and Camila Lau by the scores of 21-14 and 21-8 to give the Gamecocks a 2-0 lead.

The Gamecocks’ No. 2 pair of Paige Wheeler and Megan Kent clinched the win for Carolina as they dispatched New Orleans’ Brooklyn Frank and Kelsea Hundtoft by the scores of 21-11 and 21-5.

Carolina completed the sweep with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The Gamecocks’ top pair of Maddie Frome and Julia Mannisto topped the Privateers’ Lauren Levy and Mikayla Sellers-Wiebe, 21-9 and 21-8. In the No. 3 match, Jade Vitt and Sarah Blomgren won the point for the Gamecocks, winning 21-9 and 21-11 over New Orleans’ Courtney Roblez and Ashley Everett.

The Gamecocks will wrap up play at the Georgia State Diggin’ Duals later this afternoon in a dual with host Georgia State. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
