COLUMBIA, S.C. – The bracket for the 2015 Ezybonds Global Payments U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam was unveiled on Wednesday afternoon where it was announced that South Carolina will play DePaul in the event’s opening round on Nov. 20. The meeting will mark the eighth between the two schools and the first since the 1999-2000 season.
Other first-round matchups include, Ohio vs. Tulsa, Indiana State vs. Norfolk State and Hofstra vs. Florida State.
DePaul holds a 4-3 upperhand in the all-time series with South Carolina, including a victory in the lone neutral site matchup between the two schools, which came on Nov. 27, 1999, at the Puerto Rico Shootout, with DePaul posting a 58-46 win.
The Paradise Jam is hosted annually in St. Thomas, with games held at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center. South Carolina owns a 6-3 record in destination tournament games under the direction of Frank Martin. The Gamecocks posted a 3-0 record in the Hoops For Hope Classic to capture the tournament crown in 2012 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with victories over Milwaukee, Missouri State and UALR. The Gamecocks finished third at the 2013 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic with wins over St. Mary’s and Akron, and Carolina most recently traveled to the Charleston Classic, posting a victory over Cornell at the event.
