COLUMBIA, S.C — Following a tie for second finish at the SEC Championship over the weekend, the South Carolina men’s golf team remained at No. 6 in the Golfstat Relative Rankings, Golfstat announced Wednesday.
The Gamecocks wrapped up the SEC Championship on Sunday tied with Vanderbilt with a 54-hole total of 830 (-10), the lowest total in program history at the SEC Championship. Carolina junior Matt NeSmith claimed medalist honors with a school-record total of 196 (-14), recording just one bogey on the weekend.
The tie for second finish extended Carolina’s school-record streak of top-five finishes to nine, which also ties the school record for most top-five finishes in a single season.
Carolina is one of five SEC schools ranked in the top 25. Vanderbilt is ranked No. 5, followed by the Gamecocks at No. 6, LSU at No. 7, Auburn at No. 15 and Alabama at No. 22.
The Gamecocks will now wait for NCAA Regional pairings to be announced on May 4 on the Golf Channel during the Morning Drive. Regionals will be contested at six sites May 14-16.
