Marcus Stroman Travels to Europe With East Coast Basketball Club

July 31, 2015

COLUMBIA, S.C. ââ’¬” Sophomore guard Marcus Stroman will head overseas for a week as part of the 2015 USA East Coast basketball club team. The group, consisting of players from nine different college basketball rosters, will travel to France and Italy for games against top international competition from Aug. 1-9.

Stroman will not be the only Gamecock represented, though, as Director of Basketball Operations Andy Assaley will serve as the team’s assistant to the general manager.

“It will be great for Carolina to be once again represented overseas through the East Coast Basketball Club,” said head coach Frank Martin. “This will be a tremendous experience in basketball and life for Marcus, and Andy will bring tremendous organizational skills in helping head coach Guy Rancourt as he leads the team through this tour.”

The trip begins with a two-day training camp in New York City before heading to Paris. On Aug. 4 and 5, the group will play against All-Stars from two French divisions. After a day of travel to Treviso, Italy, the team will then play a pair of games against the Chinese national team, currently ranked 14 in the world by FIBA.
