COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina junior Katelyn Dambaugh has been named to Golfweek’s Preseason Women’s All-American team, Golfweek announced Tuesday. Dambaugh garnered third-team honors following a stellar sophomore season in which she was named a Golfweek Honorable Mention All-American. Golfweek’s Lance Ringler selected the teams.
A native of Goose Creek, S.C., Dambaugh owns the lowest career scoring average (min. 55 rounds) in program history at 73.68 through two seasons. She posted the second-lowest scoring average on the team last year with a career-best 73.66 average, including a career-low round score of 65 at the SEC Championships, which matched a program and SEC Championship record. In addition to her All-American honors, she was named Second-Team All-SEC for the second year in a row. She captured three top five finishes throughout the season and was one of two Gamecocks to advance to the fourth and final round of stroke play at the NCAA Championship.
The Gamecocks open the 2015-16 season this weekend at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn.
