Sept. 24, 2015

Story by Kyle Heck

Head coach Josh Goffi is ready to get back out onto the courts and start a new season. After a disappointing campaign last year full of injuries and illnesses, the Gamecocks enter the first tournament of the fall in good spirits.

South Carolina stumbled to a 15-15 record last season and missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011. A new year starts with a trip to Atlanta, Georgia for the Georgia Tech Invitational that takes place Sept. 25-27.

“I’m really excited,” Goffi said. “(Assistant) Coach (Ryan) Young and I have been talking about it nonstop. We’ve got to get on the road and we have to get these guys in a competitive environment to really see what comes out. That’s the real test. We’re really looking forward to it.”
