COLUMBIA, S.C. – In a re-match of the last two national championship meets, eighth-ranked South Carolina wraps up the fall portion of its schedule on Friday, when the Gamecocks travel to face No. 2 Georgia at the UGA Equestrian Complex. Friday’s meet will begin at 1 p.m. ET and admission is free.

“We’re looking forward to heading down to Georgia for what will be a very tough road meet,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major said. “We’ve had some very exciting meets with Georgia over the last few years and I think its a testament to how strong both teams are. We know how good they are at home and in order to win on the road, you have to ride mistake-free. I think the girls have a had a great few weeks of practice and I think they’ll be ready to go on Friday.”

SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA
– The Gamecocks are currently 2-4 overall and 0-2 in SEC play.
– South Carolina is currently ranked eighth in the latest NCEA Rankings.
– Friday’s meet marks the Gamecocks’ fourth straight road meet of the season.
– South Carolina has won four meets in a row over Georgia at UGA Equestrian Complex.
– The Gamecocks are currently on a six-meet winning streak at the UGA Equestrian Complex.

SCOUTING GEORGIA
– The Bulldogs are currently 4-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play.
– Georgia is coming off its first loss of the season, as the Bulldogs fell 11-8 at Auburn on Friday.
– The Bulldogs are ranked No. 2 in the latest NCEA Rankings.
– Friday’s meet will be Bulldog’s final meet of the fall semester.
– Georgia has won 10 more points in four of its five meets this season.

LAST MEETING
Then-No. 3 South Carolina upset then-No. 1 Georgia by a final score of 10-6 to win the 2015 NCEA National Championship on April 18, 2015. Georgia won the first point of the meet to take a 1-0 lead, the Bulldogs’ only lead of the meet. The Gamecocks never trailed again, defeating the Bulldogs to win their third national championship in program history.

LAST MEETING IN GEORGIA
Then-No. 3 South Carolina improved to 3-1 in SEC play as the Gamecocks edged then-No. 5 Georgia, 11-9, on Feb. 7, 2015 at the UGA Equestrian Complex. Amber Henter (equitation over fences) and Layla Choate (reining) both earned Most Outstanding Player honors for the South Carolina.

WINNING STREAK PART-1
The Gamecocks are currently on a four meet winning streak over Georgia at the UGA Equestrian Complex. The Gamecocks have not lost a road meet to Georgia since Feb. 4, 2012, when the Bulldogs beat Carolina, 11-8.

A LITTLE HISTORY
The Gamecocks are the only team to have beaten Georgia four times in a row at the UGA Equestrian Complex. South Carolina is also the only team to have beaten Georgia three consecutive times at the UGA Equestrian Complex.
