CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – South Carolina women’s golf standout Katelyn Dambaugh climbed up the leaderboard into a tie for third place following round three of the Dixie Amateur on Friday at the Heron Bay Golf Club.
The junior, who fired a 3-under (69), has qualified for Saturday’s championship round after totaling a score of 210 (-6) through three days of competition. Dambaugh and the other golfers in the top 60 of the leaderboard will compete for the title at TPC Eagle Trace, the site of Thursday’s second round.
After starting her day with two pars, Dambaugh tallied back-to-back birdies on holes No. 3 and 4 and made the turn at 1-under (35) following a bogey on the par-4 sixth. She opened the back nine with birdies on two of her first three holes (No. 11, 12) and earned pars over her remaining six holes. The Goose Creek, S.C., native totaled eight birdies and just one bogey in two rounds at Heron Bay this week.
Lauren Stephenson (-9) of Clemson turned in a 3-under (69) in round three to remain atop the leaderboard, while the Netherland’s Roos Haarman sits in second place at 7-under overall. Tee times for Saturday’s final round are yet to be announced.
