COLUMBIA, S.C. – Freshman guard Shay Colley has decided to leave the South Carolina women’s basketball program, head coach Dawn Staley announced today. The Ontario, Canada, native cited a desire to be closer to home as her reason for leaving the program.

The 5-foot-8 Colley played in 11 of the Gamecocks’ 12 games this season, logging a season-high 24 minutes against Winthrop on Dec. 13. Averaging 2.7 points on 35.5 percent field goal shooting, she netted a season-high seven points against UNCG on Nov. 15. Colley handed out 1.2 assists per game, dishing out four assists twice in the last four games – against Winthrop and East Carolina (Dec. 20).
