AUBURN, Ala. – No. 9 South Carolina wrapped up SEC play on Saturday as the Gamecocks lost 15-5 to No. 1 Auburn at the Auburn University Horse Center. Carolina falls to 3-8 overall and 0-6 in SEC play, while the Tigers improve to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in league play.

Auburn jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after winning all five points in equitation over fences.

In the western arena, the Gamecocks won 3-of-5 horsemanship points. Senior Abigail Pait and juniors Courtney Allen and Ashley Reichert all won their points for Carolina.

Auburn led, 7-3, at the halfway point of Saturday’s meet.

In the hunt seat arena, the Tigers won all five points in equitation on the flat.

In reining, the Gamecocks won a pair of points as senior Sarah Bouchard and sophomore Paisley Roberts both beat their Auburn opponents. Roberts won her first career Most Outstanding Performer award when she knocked off Auburn’s Hailey Munger, 70.5-69.

South Carolina closes out the 2015-16 regular season on March 4 when the Gamecocks travel to Delaware to face Delaware State and SMU.
