COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina equestrian coach Boo Major on Tuesday announced the signing of Bailey Tims (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks High School) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Gamecocks for the 2016-17 season. Tims is a hunt seat rider and will be able to compete in both equitation on the flat and equitation over fences for the Gamecocks.

“We want to welcome Bailey to our program and we’re looking forward to having her join us,” Major said. “Bailey is the first hunt seat rider that we’ve signed from Oklahoma, and what makes her stand out is not only her diverse background, but also the success she’s had at the various medal finals. Bailey is a great girl, she has a lot of leadership qualities, and we think she’s going to be a great addition to our team.”

Tims trains with Libby Barrow.

Last year, Tims was the Zone 7 Equitation Champion and the High Children’s Junior Champion. She also competed at the ASPCA Maclay Finals and the Pessoa Finals. In 2013, she was the Zone 7 High Point Junior Rider.

A senior at Jenks High School, Tims is a member of the FCCLA and STUCO. She has been on the school’s honor roll all four years.

Her parents are Paul and Kerrie Tims, and her brother Cale Tims is on the baseball team at Oral Roberts University.

While at South Carolina, Tims plans to be a management major in the Darla Moore School of Business.
