BISHOP, Ga. – Led by a 9-0 shutout by its hunt seat team, South Carolina wrapped up play at the SEC Championship with a 12-7 win over No. 4 Texas A&M on Saturday in the third place meet. The Gamecocks (5-10, 0-6 SEC) improve to 5-3 all-time at the SEC Championship, while the Aggies’ (9-6, 3-3 SEC) all-time record at the conference tournament falls to 1-7.

In equitation on the flat, the Gamecocks swept the event, winning all five points. In equitation over fences, the Gamecocks won the event, 4-0, with one head-to-head resulting in a tie. Texas A&M picked up a pair of 4-1 decisions in both horsemanship and reining.

A complete recap of this morning’s competition will be posted later today, once the championship ceremony has wrapped up and the Most Outstanding Performer awards have been announced.

The Gamecocks return to action on Thursday, April 14, when South Carolina competes in the opening round at the NCEA National Championship.
