COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina senior forward Sarah Imovbioh has been invited to participate in Nigeria National Team Training Camp ahead of the country’s bid to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. The 25 players invited to camp will be narrowed down to a roster of 12 who will play in the FIBA Women’s Qualifying Tournament in Nantes, France, June 13-19.

Imovbioh will travel to her hometown of Abuja for training camp, which begins May 15th. Nigeria is one of 12 nations vying for the remaining four spots in the 2016 Olympic Games via the qualifying tournament in France.

After graduating from Virginia in May 2015, Imovbioh joined the Gamecocks for her final season of eligibility. She played in all 35 games this season, playing especially well in the NCAA Tournament, during which she averaged 6.0 rebounds per game — third best on the team over the three games. On the season, she posted 4.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while averaging 14.2 minutes of play. Imovbioh recorded one double-double and was the team’s high rebounder in two games.
