On the surface, it may appear that there was nothing special about the season the South Carolina men’s tennis team had in 2015-16. The Gamecocks went 14-15 and finished 4-8 in SEC play, neither record particularly eye-popping.
However, that doesn’t even begin to tell the story of the season, and what the Gamecocks were almost able to accomplish.
Fighting injuries to some of its best players all season long, South Carolina was still just two points away from making it to the SEC Tournament semifinals and punching a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
