COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s soccer celebrated its 2015 season this spring with a team banquet, dishing out the annual awards for the team.

Academic awards were presented to the students with the best grade-point average per class. Lee Hogge snagged the honor for the freshmen, while Chandler Corley took the sophomore’s award. Junior Danny Deakin claimed his class award, while Ryan Arambula garnered the senior’s honor. Also earning an award for off-the-field efforts was Peyton Ericson, as the freshman claimed the team’s strength and conditioning award.

The freshman Ericson took home the Bill Lauritzen Award, given to the team’s most valuable defensive player. Deakin gained the Brian Winstead Award, handed out to the team’s most valuable offensive player. The John Johnson Award, the team’s Most Valuable Player, went to Deakin as well.

The Coaches’ Award, for the second straight year, went to two, as juniors Koty Millard and Kurtis Turner both claimed the honor.

It was the final goodbye to eight Gamecocks who have either graduated or exhausted their eligibility, including three starters.

The Gamecocks finished 2015 in their 21st NCAA Tournament, making it to the second round while finishing with the program’s 32nd winning record under the program’s only head coach, Mark Berson, a 2015 Letterman’s Association Hall of Fame inductee.
