COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s tennis program has added in-state product Scotty Cameron to its 2016-17 roster, head coach Josh Goffi announced Monday. Cameron, a native of Mount Pleasant, S.C., will join the Gamecocks immediately.
“We’re truly excited for Scotty to join the team,” said Goffi. “He has a wealth of natural talent that we’re excited to continue to develop. The state of South Carolina has a tradition of producing great tennis players, and we’re happy to be adding one of our own in this case.”
Cameron, the second-ranked junior player in South Carolina, reached as high as No. 52 in the national recruiting rankings, according to TennisRecruiting.net. Cameron competed on the ITF Junior Circuit, where he earned seven wins over five-star opponents and 12 wins over four-star opponents.
Cameron joins a South Carolina squad that returns all eight of its letterwinners from a season ago. He and the rest of the Gamecocks are set to begin workouts shortly in preparation for the upcoming fall slate.
