COLUMBIA, S.C. – Senior libero Megan Kirkland was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 team on Thursday. She is the first South Carolina volleyball student-athlete to make the team since Sarah Cline in 2009, and is the 12th Gamecock in program history to be honored.

The Lugoff, S.C. native has carried a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout her college career as an exercise science major. Kirkland is due to graduate in December, and has already been accepted into Carolina’s prestigious Physician Assistant Program. On the court, Megan is having a career year, already with a new season best of 67 assists and an average of 3.35 digs per set while appearing in every match for the Gamecocks through 22 matches.

The Gamecocks are in action this weekend with two matches. First, the team travels to Mississippi State for a Friday night match. Then on Sunday, Carolina returns home to host Georgia at 12:30.
