COLUMBIA, S.C. – Fresh off the conclusion of a successful fall season, South Carolina women’s golf will be honored during Saturday’s football game against Missouri.
The No. 13 Gamecocks will be recognized on the field for their 2016 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional Championship. Honorary golf coach and country music star Darius Rucker will present them with their championship rings during the second TV timeout of the first quarter. Kickoff between Carolina football and the Tigers is set for 4 p.m. ET, and the contest will air on SEC Network.
Carolina’s victory this past May marked its fourth NCAA Regional Championship in the last seven years. The Gamecocks went on to compete in the 2016 NCAA Championship, as they became just the fifth school to reach the event in each of the last years. Carolina advanced to match play at the tournament, reaching the Great Eight for the first time in school history.
The Gamecocks closed this fall with a victory at the 2016 Landfall Tradition after firing a tournament-record 280 (-8) in the final round. South Carolina placed in the top 10 in each of its four events this fall, earning top-five showings in its last two tournaments. The Gamecocks return to action in February for the start of its spring season. They will announce their full spring slate later this month.
