COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian program is proud to welcome Kate Bonham to the Gamecock family. Bonham recently signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Carolina program out of La Canada, Calif.

“We are very excited about Kate,” said Carolina head coach Boo Major. “We think she can help us both on the flat and over fences. She’s going to be a great addition to the University of South Carolina.”

A hunt seat rider, Bonham trains under Deirdra Davis.

Bonham is currently a senior at La Canada High School, and she is the daughter of Scott and Bonnie Bonham. She has a twin brother, Luke, and an older brother, Jacob.

Bonham will bring plenty of accolades to the Carolina program when she joins the Gamecocks prior to the 2017-18 season. She’s a two-time Interscholastic Equestrian League overall champion, and she’s earned multiple top-10 finishes at both the San Fernando and Los Angeles Hunter Jumper Association Medal Finals. She is also a College Preparatory Invitational Horse Show winner.

A strong student, Bonham is a member of the National Honor Society and sports a 4.7 GPA. She is a California Scholarship Federation Member, a PSAT Commended Scholar and a Seal of Biliteracy Bearer.
