COLUMBIA, S.C. – The annual VolleyballMag.com Girls Fab 50 list, one of the longest-running high school rankings in the nation, was announced Sunday. South Carolina volleyball signee Mikayla Robinson was honored as one of the 50, her second national recognition in the past two weeks.
Robinson, who helped her high school team win sectionals and plays club for Sky High, is believed to be the first South Carolina signee to make the Fab 50 list, which has existed for more than three decades.
“Mikayla has a chance to be a program-maker from day one here at South Carolina, we’re proud of the work she has done to be recognized on this impressive list,” head coach Scott Swanson said.
This is another in a long list of honors for the Gamecocks’ 2017 signing class. Brooke Gostomski, Robinson and Jess Vastine were named PrepVolleyball Senior Aces, and Robinson, Vastine and Ellie Popelka were also recognized by PrepVolleyball as high school All-Americans on Feb. 9.
“Our incoming class is full of gifted athletes who will make us better as a team, Swanson said. “They’ve all come from great coaching and have experience at high levels of high school and club volleyball, and we believe they’ll make a big impact on our program during their careers here.”
