No. 26 Gamecocks Continue SEC Road Slate

FAYETTEVILLE, AR. — No. 26 South Carolina men’s tennis team continues its SEC road slate to face No. 46 Arkansas Thursday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at the Billingsley Tennis Center and No. 42 Ole Miss Saturday, March 18 at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The Gamecocks added a 1-1 record this past weekend to give the team a 12-4 record overall and a 1-2 record in league play.
The Gamecocks defeated Palmetto State Rival, Clemson, Friday, March 10 at the Carolina Tennis Center with a dominating 6-0 victory to tie the Certified SC Grown Palmetto Series at seven apiece. South Carolina fell to then, No. 15 Florida 4-2, after dropping the doubles point the Gamecocks took the first two singles matches to take a 2-1 lead, but dropped to the next three matches to fall to Florida.

Head Coach Josh Goffi: “We’re excited to get on the road again and look to bounce back after the Florida match. We are playing a very tough Arkansas team that’s picking up steam at this point of the year so we will need to be ready to battle and go the distance with these guys.”
GAMECOCK NOTABLES
- Gabriel Friedrich is currently ranked No. 51 nationally with an 8-4 record in singles play all coming from the No. 1 spot .
- Senior Andrew Schafer improved to 13-1 in the spring, adding a 2-0 record on the weekend increasing his career record to 93-50.
- The Gamecocks maintained a top-30 ranking for the fourth consecutive week with this week’s No. 26 ranking.
- O’Keefe defeated Florida’s Elliott Orkin (79) on Sunday, March 12 to notch his first win over a ranked opponent this season and improve to 12-4 in singles play, the second highest singles victories on the team.
Scouting No. 46 ARKANSAS
- The Razorbacks are 8-6 overall this season and 2-1 in SEC play coming off a 4-3 loss to No. 11 Georgia Sunday, March 12 on the road.
- Two are ranked in singles play for Arkansas, Mike Redlicki (6) and Jose Salazar (24).
- One pair is ranked in doubles play, Jose Salazar and Mike Redlicki (56).
- Head coach Andy Jackson enters his fourth season with the Razorbacks.
Scouting No. 42 OLE MISS
- Ole Miss is 6-4 overall and 1-2 in league play this season, including an undefeated record at home.
- The Rebels are coming off a 4-3 loss to No. 43 Tennessee on Sunday, March 12, they will face No. 16 Florida Thursday, March 16 before facing the Gamecocks on Saturday.
- Ranked doubles pairing: Fabian Fallert and Grey Hamilton (23).
- Ranked singles players: Gustav Hansson (39).
- Head coach Toby Hansson has been with the Rebels since 2015.
