Katelyn Dambaugh Set To Make Symetra Tour Debut

May 31, 2017

COLUMBIA, S.C. ââ’¬” Former Gamecock women’s golf standout Katelyn Dambaugh is set to make her debut on the Symetra Tour this week at the Fuccillo Kia Classic of NY. The 54-hole event in Albany, N.Y., takes place June 2-4 at Capital Hills.

Dambaugh, who wrapped up her decorated collegiate career at the 2017 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship in May, earned Symetra Tour status after finishing in the top 80 of Stage II of the 2016 LPGA Qualifying Tournament last October. The Symetra Tour is the official development tour for the LPGA, and membership for it is open to professional women golfers and qualified amateurs. Dambaugh made her LPGA Tour debut in March when she competed at the 2017 ANA Inspiration as an amateur.

A four-time All-American, Dambaugh rewrote the record book while at Carolina. The Goose Creek, S.C., native, who ended her time as a Gamecock with program’s lowest career stroke average (72.67), holds the best 18- and 54-hole marks in school history, carding both as a senior.

Dambaugh’s 15 career top-five finishes (2nd) and 21 top-10 showings (3rd) both rank in the top-three all-time in program history, and her 71.62 scoring average as a junior stands as the lowest single-season mark by a Gamecock. She captured a pair of medalist honors while at Carolina, including the 2017 SEC Championship at which she set a school and tournament record with a three-round total of 204 (-12).
