COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s golf coach Kalen Anderson announced the addition of transfer Lois Kaye Go on Tuesday. The rising sophomore, who is eligible to compete for Carolina this fall, joins the Gamecocks after spending one year at Boston College this past season.
“I am thrilled to have Lois joining our Gamecock family this fall,” Anderson said. “She is a very consistent and steady player who will make a significant impact in our lineup.”
Go, a 2017 All-ACC selection, led her team with a 72.29 stroke average in her lone season with the Eagles. She posted two victories at Boston College, capturing medalist honors at the 2016 Dartmouth Invitational and 2017 Lady EagleCat Invitational, and the Cebu City, Philippines, native became the second golfer in program history to earn a spot in an NCAA Regional this past spring. Go, BC’s Athletics Rookie of the Year, placed inside the top-10 in seven of 10 tournaments as a freshman and finished the season with five top-three showings.
“Lois has a strong wedge and scoring game, and she is an excellent putter. I am very impressed with the accolades she earned as a freshman at Boston College, and we look forward to helping her take her game to the next level while at South Carolina.”
Last week, Go tallied her second victory of 2017 when she won the fifth annual Women’s Porter Cup (June 7-9) at Niagara Falls Country Club. A final-round 65 (-7) keyed her victory, as Go registered four-straight birdies following the turn on the final day of the 54-hole event.
Prior to Boston College, she totaled three victories in 2015 before winning the MVPSF Visayas Regional Match Play Championship in the Philippines in 2016. Go, who will compete in the North & South Women’s Amateur Championship and the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship this summer, was the ninth ranked junior for the class of 2016 according to Junior Golf Scoreboard.
The sophomore transfer is set to join a Gamecock squad that finished the season ranked No. 12 in the final Golfstat poll after placing 10th at the 2017 NCAA Championship. Carolina, one of four schools to reach the NCAA Championship in each of the last eight years, captured the 2017 NCAA Columbus Regional Title to earn its third-straight regional championship.
