Gamecocks Set To Hold Fourth Annual 8K In 8 Days Campaign

July 17, 2017

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s basketball team will hold the Fourth Annual “8K In 8 Days” campaign, beginning this week with three community outreach events. The campaign is aimed at reaching 8,000 fans in the greater Columbia community and the State of South Carolina with community outreach over the course of eight days throughout late July and early August.

South Carolina comes off a record-breaking 2016-17 season in which the Gamecocks won their first NCAA Tournament game since 1973, en route to advancing to the school’s first Final Four and a school-record 26 wins along the way. South Carolina set attendance records in both total attendance and average attendance in 2016-17. A total of 241,123 fans attended Carolina games on the season, an average of 13,396 fans. Nationally, the Gamecocks ranked 15th in total attendance, which was third in the SEC, and 21st in average attendance, which was fourth in the SEC.

“We couldn’t be more excited to continue the 8K In 8 Days campaign this summer,” Gamecock head coach Frank Martin said. “Community involvement is a big part of what our program stands for, and allows us an opportunity to thank our fans for the unbelievable support they continue to show our team. The first three summers of 8K In 8 Days have given our program such special moments and interactions with members of our community, and I’m sure that year four will do the same.”

The campaign begins on Tuesday, July 18, when the Gamecocks visit the Brookland Baptist Church Empowerment Center, and continues on Wednesday with an event with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Carolina will visit the Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital on Thursday to conclude events for the week. The following week, the Gamecocks will visit the Dorn VA Medical Center (July 24) and host the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department and Special Olympics South Carolina for events at the Carolina Coliseum later that week. The squad will sign letters to season ticket holders to conclude the campaign.

Season ticket prices for the upcoming season remain unchanged, with full season packages starting at $90. Like last season, fans can purchase lower level season tickets for $260 (Gamecock Club membership required for sections 104-106, 113-115), the Coke Family Sections are available for $600 (four tickets) and upper level tickets are available for $200 (no Gamecock Club membership required). End zone seating in the upper level is priced at four seats for $360. University Faculty/Staff members receive a 20% discount on lower level and upper level ticket prices.
