COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis head coach Josh Goffi has promoted Kyle Bailey to associate head coach, the program announced Wednesday. Bailey has served as the Gamecocks’ assistant coach since July 15, 2016.

“I want to thank Josh Goffi, Judy VanHorn, and Ray Tanner for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the men’s tennis program and the Gamecock community,” Bailey said. “I’ve truly enjoyed my time working at the University, and my family and I feel very at home here in Columbia.”

In his first season as an assistant coach with at South Carolina, Bailey helped the Gamecocks secure an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time since 2014. The team also posted its most wins since 2015 with a 20-6 record in the spring . The Gamecocks thrived in the SEC as they hit a program record for conference wins, finishing 9-3 to finish tied for third in the regular season.

“Kyle is an integral part of our program,” Goffi said. “His developmental mindset and passion for the game fit right in with our culture. Most importantly, he sets a tremendous example for our players with his work ethic, discipline and personal character. Kyle is absolutely deserving of this promotion.”

Before coming to the University of South Carolina, Bailey served as the head coach of Monmouth College, guiding the men’s tennis team to its first NCAA Tournament berth and the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles. Bailey has more than 10 years of experience coaching both at the collegiate and junior development levels.
