COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s golf rising sophomore Lois Kaye Go concludes her busy summer slate with the 2017 U.S. Women’s Amateur in Chula Vista, Calif., this week. The weeklong event will be contested at San Diego Country Club.
The tournament opens with 18 holes of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday before the 156-player field is cut to 64. The match-play Round of 64 is set for Wednesday, and the Round of 32 and Round of 16 will take place on Thursday. The quarterfinals take place Friday, and the semifinals are set for Saturday. The 36-hole championship match will be contested on Sunday.
Fox Sports and the USGA will provide extensive coverage during match play of the event. The Round of 64 will air on FS1 from 6-9 p.m. ET, and the Round of 32 can be seen on usga.org from 2-4 p.m. Coverage shifts back to FS1 for the Round of 16 and quarterfinals, with both days of action set to be broadcast from 6-9 p.m. Saturday’s semifinal round will air on FS1 from 7-10 p.m., and the morning portion of the championship match will stream live on usga.org (12:30-2:30). The final 18 holes will air on FS1 from 4-7 p.m.
Go qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur last month after sharing medalist honors at Bermuda Run Country Club. She posted a 1-under 71 at the club’s East Course in Advance, N.C., one of 23 qualifying sites for this year’s national amateur championship. The top seven golfers from each site qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur.
Go, who joined Carolina in June after spending one season at Boston College, won the 2017 Women’s Porter Cup (June 7-9) earlier this summer before advancing to match play at the 115th North & South Women’s Amateur (July 10-14) last month. The Cebu City, Philippines, native also reached match play at the 2017 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, which took pace July 24-29 in Missouri.
