Friedrich Advances to Second Round of ITA All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. – South Carolina men’s tennis senior Gabriel Friedrich came out strong in the first round of the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships on Thursday. Friedrich took down Ohio State’s Martin Joyce in two sets to advance to the second round of the main draw, which will be played on Friday.
The Gamecocks’ sole representative in the main draw, Friedrich recorded multiple service breaks in each set, finishing with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
Friedrich was selected as one of 64 players to compete in the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships based on his No. 28 spot in the ITA singles preseason rankings. The senior took on Joyce, who earn his spot through the qualifying bracket, in the first round of the competition.
