Friedrich Falls to No. 18 Julian Cash

TULSA, Okla. – After being selected for the main draw and claiming victory in the first round, South Carolina senior Gabriel Friedrich fell to No. 18 Julian Cash in the second round of the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships. As the only Gamecock to compete in the main draw, Friedrich’s loss marks the final day of competition for South Carolina.
Friedrich started the match strong, going deep into the first set, but was unable to top Cash, falling 7-5, 6-4.
Several Gamecocks competed in the ITA All-American Championships, with Paul Jubb and Yancy Dennis each earning wins in pre-qualifying and Thomas Mayronne earning a win in the qualifying.
South Carolina men’s tennis will be back in action next weekend as it heads to the ITA Regional Championships in Cary, N.C. The competition begins Fri., Oct. 13, and continues through Tue., Oct. 17.
