Staley Adds Victaria Saxton to 2018 Class

Nov. 14, 2017

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley announced that Victaria Saxton (Rome, Ga./Model HS) has signed a National Letters of Intent to attend the University and play for the Gamecocks. She will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2018-19 academic year.

“We are incredibly excited Victaria is joining our Gamecock family,” Staley said. “She is a skilled, athletic post who can score in a variety of ways. Her rebound ability is truly what sets her apart. We look forward to Victaria making an impact on our program, University and community.”

A 6-foot-1 forward, Saxton is among the top 50 recruits in the nation overall and is the eighth-ranked forward in the group. She is a three-time Atlanta Journal-Constitution First-Team AA All-State selection heading into her senior season with the Model High School Lady Devils. The 2017 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) Class 2A-North Player of the Year, Saxton averaged 25.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks as a junior.

Saxton joins point guard Destanni Henderson (Lehigh Acres, Fla.) in Staley’s 2018 signing class.
