Carolina Takes Two MOPs In Final Meet Of The Fall
Nov. 17, 2017
Equestrian vs. #4 Auburn
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. –South Carolina equestrian dropped its final meet of the fall semester as No. 4 Auburn walked away with a 13-6 victory Friday at One Wood Farm. Bridgett White (Reining) and Lauren Fabiano (Equitation Over Fences) took home MOP honors for the Gamecocks.
The Tigers used an early 7-2 lead after Equitation on the Flat and Horsemanship to hang on for the victory.
“We’ve got to get better,” head coach Boo Major said. “So many times we rode well but we’ve got to continue to improve. I don’t think we’re a great team right now but we’re a good team. Our girls are so positive about everything. I hate it for them because they come into every meet thinking that we’ve got the opportunity and ability to win. We had many opportunities to pick up more points but it just didn’t happen for us.”
The Gamecocks picked up two points before halftime thanks to two wins in Equitation on the Flat. Madison Brayman and Ollie earned an 84-73 victory over Gia Rinaldi while Chloe Schmidt and Checkers picked up the 81-79 win against Ashton Alexander.
Following the halftime break, Carolina picked up another four points thanks to wins in Equitation Over Fences and Reining. In Fences, Brayman and Batman defeated Alexander in an 88-75 win while Fabiano and Leon rode to a 91-86 win over Hayley Lannotti.
In Reining, Bailey Walters and Wrangler picked up a 62-0 win over Betsey Brown while White earned the final point of the day with Stoner in a 70-61.5 win against Alexa Rivard.
Carolina now breaks for winter before returning to action in the spring. Continue to check with gamecocksonline.com for more information on the Gamecocks.
