No. 24 South Carolina men’s tennis will travel to Charlotte, N.C., for a doubleheader with South Carolina State and Charlotte after a location change due to weather. Both matches will be played on Friday at Lifetime Fitness, the Onyx Premier Club. The Gamecocks will first face off against South Carolina State at noon and then against Charlotte at 5 p.m.

South Carolina is coming off a 1-1 weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kick-Off Weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Gamecocks took their first loss of the season against No. 17 Michigan on Friday, but were able to come back and top Drake 4-1 on Saturday to move their overall season record to 5-1.

GAMECOCK NOTABLES

  • The Gamecocks are 5-1 in the 2018 spring season after wins over The Citadel, Elon, Davidson and Drake in the first three weeks of competition.
  • South Carolina is ranked No. 24 in the Oracle/ITA Division I Rankings, the organization announced on Wednesday. The ranking makes South Carolina one of five Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the top 25.

  • The Bulldogs are 0-1 going into Friday’s match after falling to Charlotte on Fri., Jan. 27.
  • South Carolina State was chosen to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title this season after winning the tournament in 2017.
  • South Carolina leads the series over the Bulldogs 6-0. The last meeting between the two teams was in 2016 when the Gamecocks won 7-0.
