COLUMBIA, SC — The Gamecocks of South Carolina will team up with the Richland County
Public Library again this year to emphasize the importance of summer
reading. The annual PigSkin Poets program is set for 11 a.m. on Friday,
July 23 in the Bostick Auditorium of the Main Library, 1431 Assembly St.
Children of all ages are encouraged to attend this free program, a part
of the library’s Summer Reading Club celebration.
“This partnership with the Gamecocks shows young people that reading is
fun, and that you can read books on any subject you enjoy,” said Padgett
Lewis, RCPL’s public relations manager. “Children look up to the
players, and we appreciate the fact that the team is willing to help
emphasize the importance of reading to young people.”
2004 marks the seventh year for the Pigskin Poets program.
