Arkansas Pine-Bluff Appoints USC Assistant AD Craig Curry As Director Of Athletics
Curry served as assistant athletic director for compliance at Carolina from 1999-2002

Craig Curry, assistant athletic director for compliance at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, was formerly introduced as Director of Athletics at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff during a press conference August 1 at Golden Lion Stadium on campus. Curry served at Carolina as assistant athletic director from 1999-2002.

Prior to his tenure at South Carolina, Curry served as Director of Athletics for two years (1997-99) at Albany State University in Albany, Ga. He has also worked in academic administration for the University of Michigan athletic department (1991-97).

After a stellar playing career as quarterback for the University of Minnesota, Curry was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1972. He remained on the Dolphins’ roster until the final cut before the 1972 season.

A native of Miami, Fla., Curry worked as a marketing representative at IBM for 16 years (1974-90). In his position with IBM, Curry exposed the Detroit Public Schools to “Technology in Education” briefing that led to successful installation of new technology.

While at IMB, he was the marketing representative for the sixth largest school system in the country (1988-90) and for Workstations at IBM’s largest commercial customer, General Motors/EDS.

Curry has earned bachelor degrees in psychology from Minnesota and business management from the University of Miami. He received a master’s degree in athletic administration from Wayne State University in Michigan.

He is also a graduate of the Sports Management Institute Executive Program and will graduate from the NCAA Leadership Conference later this month.

Curry and his wife, Josephine have three children, Craig II, Andrea Monique and Christopher.
