Billy Anderson is the head strength & conditioning coach for Olympic sports at the University of South Carolina. Anderson has served as the strength coach for the baseball program since 2003-04 and began working for the University on a full-time basis in the 1994-95 academic year after serving the previous two years as a graduate assistant. Anderson also works with the men’s and women’s golf teams.

Anderson is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) and most recently in May of 2010 was awarded the prestigious title of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach. This honor is given to strength coaches who have been in the field for a minimum of 12 years and represents professionalism, experience, expertise as well as longevity in the field.

A native of Stratford, Conn., Anderson received his Bachelor of Science in health fitness from Springfield (Mass.) College. While at Springfield, Anderson ran track all four years and is still the record holder in the 800-meter run. He was the junior and senior Athlete of the Year at Springfield as his team was the ECAC champions both years. In 1991, Anderson finished eighth in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.

A 1987 graduate of Bunnell High School in Stratford, Conn., Anderson was an all-state performer in football and track.

Anderson and his wife, the former Tish Fellers, were married July 22, 2000. They have a son, Kaden Ellis, born on Sept. 11, 2005, and a daughter, Ashlyn Paige, born on May 5, 2008.
