Scott Gardner serves as the athletic trainer for the University of South Carolina’s men’s and women’s track and field teams as well as the women’s cross country team. Scott joined the Gamecocks’ athletic training staff in August 2009.
Prior to coming to Columbia, Scott was employed at Ohio University originally as an assistant athletic trainer then eventually promoted to assistant director of sports medicine services. During his stay at Ohio, Scott was responsible for the baseball, wrestling, and women’s field hockey teams. Scott worked as an athletic trainer at sports medicine facilities in Nashville, Tenn., for nine years providing medical care to local high schools throughout the middle Tennessee area. During 1995 and 1996, Scott was selected to work at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for a 12 month fellowship program. During this time, he was assigned to the 1996 US Junior World Speedskating team traveling to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Scott is also an accomplished sports photographer, having been published in Sports Illustrated, USA Today, and many other various magazines and newspapers around the country. During his time at Ohio University, he also served as the athletics department photographer.
Scott is originally from Titusville, Fla. He received his bachelor’s from the University of Kentucky in 1985 and his master’s from Louisiana State University in 1987.
